New study on multi-resistant hospital germs

An international consortium led by the Research Center Borstel Leibniz Leibniz Lungenzentrum and including the Universität Hamburg has for the first time investigated the worldwide population structure and distribution of the multi-resistant pathogen of the Stenotrophomonas maltophilia complex. The study, now published in Nature Communications, provides a systematic understanding of the S. maltophilia strains and enables efficient monitoring based on a newly developed genomic classification system.
