Biology as a science of living nature is considered one of the key disciplines of the 21st century. Biological research and innovation will make an important contribution to tackling the current challenges of climate change, the consequences of the ever-growing world population and the sustainable use of resources.
The course offers a very broad range of topics. The compulsory modules Biodiversity of Animals / Plants, Microbiology, Genetics / Molecular Biology, Animal and Plant Physiology, Ecology, Developmental Biology and Biostatistics as well as the neighboring sciences Chemistry and Physics provide advanced basic knowledge. A wide range of elective modules, such as behavioral ecology, neurobiology, human biology, methods of phytopathology or adaptation mechanisms of plants offers the opportunity to specialize. In addition, close cooperation with non-university research institutions broaden the possibilities for students.
