Doctoral Procedure

There are two valid doctoral regulations of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences at the University of Hamburg.

Which of the two doctoral regulations applies to you depends on the date of your admission.

You can find a brief guide to the respective administrative procedure at the Department of Biology of the two doctoral regulations by following the respective link.

a)
With an admission from 2010 to 30.09.2019, you are doing your doctorate according to the MIN doctoral regulations (2010) and the corresponding rules of procedure of the Subject Doctoral Committee of Biology.

or

b)
With an admission from 1 October 2019, you will do your doctorate according to the MIN doctoral regulations (2018) with the corresponding rules of procedure of the Subject Doctoral Committee of Biology.

• The Hamburg Research Academy is the inter-university institution for those interested in doing a doctorate, doctoral candidates, postdocs, W1 professors and academic supervisors in Hamburg.

• For doctoral students at MIN who would like to offer internships in the summer of 2024 (as part of their doctoral work) for BA students from North America, Great Britain or Ireland. Under the following link you will find information on the possibility of publishing these in a database from 15 August to 30 September 2023. The website https://www.daad.de/rise/de/rise-germany/praktikum-anbieten/ is unfortunately only available in German. • An Individual Development Plan (IDP) from the MINGZ supports you in taking your individual professional development into your own hands and facilitating the transition into your future career.

The Department Biology will hold a certificate ceremony on January 24th, 2025. We would be very pleased to present you your certificate at this event. For a smooth running of the event we depend on a registration in order to be able to plan:

Participation is voluntary. If you need the certificate between the graduation and the awarding of the certificate, we will be able to arrange this.

Applications received electronically will be processed. If the printed documents or details within the electronic documents are missing, these will be requested in due course during processing. Please be patient regarding re-registration about documents. Please refrain from asking for confirmation of receipt.
