Paulina Kowalski studies in her doctoral thesis how the leaf beetle Chrysochus auratus manages to absorb toxic cardiac glycosides from its host plants and store them in his defense secretions without poisoning themselves. Today her exciting data on the role of the ABCB transporters in these processes appears in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B:
