Biology Departmental Council
The Biology Departmental Council is composed of elected representatives from all status groups within the department. This body is responsible for the comprehensive topic of curriculum and teaching and elects the head of the department and the representatives for various areas.
Duties
The duties of the Departmental Council encompass § 4 paragraph 5 of the Basic Regulations of the University of Hamburg and § 7 paragraphs 8-11 of the Statutes of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences of the University of Hamburg (dated 01.02.2017).
Paragraph 8:
The departments are assigned the following duties (Basic Regulations § 4 paragraph 5):
- Organization of teaching and subject advising,
- Proposals for study and examination regulations,
- Proposals for teaching duties,
- Proposals for the composition of appointment committees.
Composition of the Committee
Members
According to § 7 Departments of the Statutes of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences of the University of Hamburg (dated 01.02.2017):
Department committees shall be composed according to groups are elected in accordance with § 4 para. 2 of the Basic Regulations. The department committee is called the departmental council.
The following voting members belong to the departmental council:
- Seven members from the group of university professors,
- Two members from the group of students,
- Two members from the group of academic staff, and
- Two members from the group of technical, library, and administrative staff.
The Departmental Council consists of elected members of all groups according to § 10 HmbHG within the department.
The term of office for the current departmental council began on 01.10.2020 and ends on 30.09.2022. The students are re-elected after one year and the current representatives will hold office until 01.10.2021.
