We are looking for 1 doctoral researcher within the DFG-funded Research Unit 5116 “exRNA”: Plant-microbe communication through extracellular RNA.
The interdisciplinary expert consortium of RU5116 investigates the cutting-edge topic of communication via extracellular (ex) RNAs in plant-microbe interactions. Elucidating these mechanisms has a high potential for improving plant productivity and health. We are addressing detection, identification, functional relevance, and evolution of exRNAs in a wide array of plant-microbe interactions, using state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo approaches and bioinformatics. This will not only provide a mechanistic understanding of RNA-mediated plant-microbe communication but also allow testing the hypothesis across the whole RU5116 that cross-kingdom RNA-mediated communication is conserved in different pathogenic and symbiotic systems. We are looking for a motivated and talented applicant.
