New publication about the first proteome analysis of senescent peroxisomes
7 June 2018, by Sigrun Reumann
Peroxisomes are vitally important cell organelles with manifold tasks. However, up to now they could be isolated and characterized only from selected plant organs like leaves. In collaboration with the research group of Jianping Hu (Lansing, Michigan, USA) our group succeeded for the first time to isolate peroxisomes from senescent leaves of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and to analyze their proteome. Several new proteins were identified and their subcellular localization in peroxisomes was verified in vivo . It will be investigated in follow-up projects which role these proteins play e.g. in the tolerance of environmental stress factors.
