Tyrone Estcourt

The focus of my research addresses how environmental stressors, such as those associated with climate change, impact the ecophysiology of marine ectotherms. Through experimental methods, I examine changes in metabolic processes, behaviour, and development across different life stages in order to understand the response mechanisms and vulnerabilities of marine fishes.

My research project investigates the effects of temperature and hypoxia on the ecophysiology of the model species the three-spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus). By exposing G. aculeatus to (seasonal) projected temperatures, marine heatwaves, and hypoxic conditions, I examine changes in aerobic metabolism, behaviour, and development across all life stages.
