As evolutionary biologist with a strong interest in ecology, I am fascinated by how rapid changes in the environment affect individual organisms, populations, and ecosystems. I am particularly interested in genomic features facilitating these rapid adaptive processes, and in the evolution of associated (molecular) phenotypic traits and phenotypic plasticity.  My research background combines expertise in ecology and evolutionary biology of the aquatic keystone organism Daphnia, and population genomics and experimental evolution in Drosophila.

In my current research, I use Daphnia as model organism, as Daphnia has a known record of rapidly adapting to a variety of biotic and abiotic environmental factors. I combine population genomics, the analysis of natural populations, experimental evolution, and the analysis of fitness related phenotypic traits.
