We are pleased to invite master’s and doctoral students in the natural sciences to join our three-day intensive Summer School in Life Sciences organized within the MOMOBIO project, taking place 5–7 October, 2026 in Hamburg, Germany.
Hosted by the Department of Microbiology & Biotechnology at the University of Hamburg, this Summer School offers a unique opportunity to combine scientific learning with hands-on experience in one of Europe’s most vibrant research environments.
Hamburg, Germany’s second-largest city, is shaped by its waterways including the Alster and Elbe rivers, canals, and harbor basins providing an ideal setting for exploring aquatic microbial systems.
Key highlights of the Summer School:
- Hands-on laboratory sessions on water sample preparation and analysis
- Field excursions to explore real-world environmental applications
- Expert talks from leading scientists, including: Prof. Dr. Alexander Probst (Universität Duisburg-Essen), Prof. Dr. Hans-Curt Flemming (Universität Duisburg-Essen), Dr. Gunnar Gerts (Alfred-Wegener-Institut), Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Grossart (Leibniz-Institut für Gewässerökologie und Binnenfischerei, Berlin)
- Insights into microbial diversity, human impact on ecosystems, and resistance formation
