On June 11 and 12, 2026, the 7th Bionics Teaching Forum took place at the University of Hamburg. The Dr. Heinrich Netheler Stiftung and the University of Hamburg invited participants to jointly explore and delve deeper into current bionic issues, research perspectives, and applications.

The program centered on lectures at the Institute of Plant Sciences and Microbiology (IPM), provided diverse insights into current research approaches and bionic developments. The forum was complemented by poster presentations, during which participants discussed projects, research findings, and teaching approaches with one another. A special highlight of the program was the guided tour of the Loki Schmidt Garden and the workshops “Wood in Motion,” “Sticking Like a Leech,” and “Technical Experiments and Models in Biomechanics for STEM Subjects,” which allowed participants to experience the direct connection between observing nature and bionic innovation.
