Once a year, the German Society for Plant Sciences (DBG) awards a prize for the ‘best’ botanical master's thesis submitted at each of the participating universities. The prize is aimed at recognising outstanding achievements in plant sciences.

The application

UHH Master's students in the Department of Biology who have completed their Master's degree are eligible to apply. The application deadline is November 19, 2025.

Submission of application documents and selection process

Master's theses should be submitted to Prof. Dr. Dieter Hanelt (DBG representative at the UHH). A jury of university lecturers will decide which thesis is the best of the year.

The prize

The award-winning master's thesis will be published on the DBG website with the name, topic and a short summary. The prize consists of a certificate and prize money of € 100.
