Molecular Plant Physiology

You’ll find here useful information about teaching and research in the research unit of Plant Physiology. Plants are continously challenged by their environment, for example by drought, salinity, temperature, and pathogens. Our laboratory’s research is directed at the regulation of plant growth, development, stress and immune responses. Our experimental work elucidates the molecular mechanisms that control these processes by using state-of-the-art techniques from molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, cell and structure biology. Our research focusses on:
- Regulation of autoimmunity, senescence, and cell death
- Meristem function and cell differentiation of stem cells
- Ubiquitin-dependent signalling
- Perception and transduction of hormon signals
- Plant-nematode-interactions
- Structure and function of motor proteins
Our teaching covers molecular physiology, molecular biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology. We teach in 7 different degree programs: BSc Biology, BSc Molecular Life Science, MSc Biology, Master Molecular Plant Science (MoPS), MSc Molecular Life Science, BSc BA Biology teaching degree for secondary schools, and BSc of Arts with Biology. We offer highly topical research projects for your Bachelor or Master thesis in all programs.
