RTG2530 Biota-mediated effects on Carbon cycling in Estuaries

The mission of the Research Training Group „Biota-mediated effects on Carbon cycling in Estuaries“ is to provide Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers an outstanding platform for their career development and to systematically analyze the role of indirect effects of biota (IEB) on estuarine carbon cycling. By a combination of ecological, biochemical, and molecular approaches, key processes of the carbon cycle will be analyded in the rhizosphere of marshes, at the sediment surface of intertidal flats, and on organic matter aggregates in estuarine channels.

Labelling-experiment to investigate the carbon cycle in Elbe marsh soils

Researchers of the RTG 2530 have developed a labelling experiment to investigate the effects of climate change on the carbon cycle in marsh ecosystems. Specifically, they are investigating how carbon flows are affected by rising temperatures and increasing salinity, the roles that plants and microorganisms play in this...

RTG 2530 - Summer BBQ

On 18 August, it was that time of year again: members of the RTG 2530 got together for a relaxed barbecue at the Institute of Plant Sciences and Microbiology (IPM) to celebrate together in the sunshine. This lovely group photo was taken during the day.
