As part of research during her doctoral thesis, Nele Martens has now been able to show that 17 phytoplankton strains are also able to use organic compounds (e.g. sugars or amino acids) for their growth. She has published the results in the journal 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of B'.
Photo: Nele Martens/Çağıl Gümüş
NAGR-fakmin-36546751-production2023-11-21T07:00:00Z14 new doctoral researchers at the Research Training GroupOn 1st and 2nd of November, the introductory days for the second cohort of doctoral students in Research Training Group 2530 took place. The doctoral students visited the various institutes and were able to get to know each other over dinner and other activities.

The research trip was organised together with BluEs – Blue_Estuaries – „Feeding ecology and growth of fishes - a contribution to the analysis of functional diversity and food webs in the Elbe and Oder estuaries” and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Department „Aquatic Nutrient Cycles“.
Photo: IGB/Sven Tobias-Hünefeldt
NAGR-fakmin-26232077-production2021-05-19T14:00:00Z“I’m more critical with my work”Good scientific practice is a core element of science. Therefore, the RTG2530 offers a good scientific practice course as part of its qualification programme, which took place at the end of April. The doctoral researchers Monica Wilson and Friederike Neiske from our RTG talk about, what they took from the course, their own experiences with good scientific practice, and which advice they would give younger students.
Photo: UHH/GRK2530
NAGR-fakmin-25719156-production2021-04-06T07:00:00ZZones of the estuariesThe large estuaries of the North Sea, Weser, Ems and Elbe, are over 100 kilometers long and more than ten kilometers wide. It is no surprise that they can be divided into different areas.
Photo: UHH/RTG2530
