On 21 July 2025, another doctoral candidate from the RTG 2530 was celebrated at the Institute of Plant Sciences and Microbiology (IPM) of the University of Hamburg – this time, Sven P. Tobias-Hünefeldt, successfully defended their PhD thesis on “Metabolic pathways of aggregate-associated microbes along estuarine gradients”. The RTG 2530 member from the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin was presented with two traditional keepsakes: a creatively decorated doctoral hat from RTG 2530 colleagues and a small Berlin bear from their team at the IGB, both adorned with heartfelt, personal messages.
