DFG Research Unit 5116 extended for a further funding period

The DFG Research Unit 5116 has been extended by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) for a further funding period. The group's spokesperson is Prof Dr Julia Kehr, Professor of Molecular Plant Genetics at the Department of Biology at the Universität Hamburg.

The group's research is at the interface between agricultural sciences and biology. The scientists want to understand how the communication between host plants and their interacting microbes takes place during infections, but also in symbiotic relationships.

The DFG has set up a total of nine new research groups and one research training group. The DFG has also extended three projects for a second funding period. (Press release)
