Dr. Nassim Safari joined the RNA Infection Biology of Plants group at the University of Hamburg as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Arne Weiberg’s group in April 2026. She completed her PhD at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, where her research focused on the fungal pathogen Botrytis, including cell death-inducing proteins and fungal genome editing. Her expertise includes CRISPR-Cas-based approaches for marker-free targeted gene deletions, the generation of single and multiple knockout mutants, knock-ins, and strain engineering. In Hamburg, she contributes her experience in fungal genetics and CRISPR-Cas technologies to projects investigating plant–fungal interactions and RNA-based infection biology.
