Proposal for Master's Theses
We are always looking for enthusiastic and motivated master’s students who would like to join our team.
Our current projects:
Marine and aquatic organisms and metagenomes represent a largely untapped resource for the production of high-quality biomolecules for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and other bio-based industries. In our ongoing projects, we aim to develop new and innovative tools and technologies to harness this biodiversity. For example, we seek to identify plastic-degrading enzymes or new enzymes for the degradation of cellulose.
In addition, we offer master’s thesis topics related to our biofilm projects. Biofilms play an important role in infections as well as in industrial settings. They are usually undesirable and difficult to treat. Here, we work with various model organisms and develop strategies to prevent biofilm formation.
If you are interested, please feel free to contact Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Streit or stop by in person. We look forward to your visit.
