Microalgae and their associated microbiomes represent promising sources of bioactive molecules for biotechnology. Using functional metagenomics, antioxidant enzymes from the microbiome of Tetraselmis chui were identified and characterized, including novel superoxide dismutases and catalases. Comparative analyses with other microalgal microbiomes reveal a broad diversity of related enzymes, highlighting the potential of microalgae-associated microbial communities for enzyme discovery and biomedical applications.
