Since 1 April 2026, Prof. Dr. Philipp Porada has been the new deputy spokesperson of the Research Training Group 2530, supporting spokesperson Prof. Dr. Elisa Schaum. Prof. Dr. Kai Jensen, who led the RTG as spokesperson from the start and most recently served as deputy spokesperson since October 2025, has now handed over this role. He remains connected to the RTG as a Principal Investigator.
"I am truly delighted to support Elisa as deputy spokesperson. In the final phase of RTG 2530, we will continue the fascinating research on biotic interactions in the Elbe Estuary through numerous exciting projects and synthesize the outstanding results of recent years. A special thanks goes to Kai and Elisa for their excellent coordination", says Philipp Porada about stepping into the position. He is already familiar with the RTG 2530, having previously served as a Principal Investigator (PI).
Spokesperson Elisa Schaum is also looking to the future with optimism: "Working with Philipp and learning about his unique perspective on complex ecosystems has been a joy throughout the last years - I am looking forward to working with him in this new role."
The spokesperson and the deputy spokesperson lead, coordinate and represent the RTG 2530. They are supported by the advisory board and the Mercator Fellows as well as the office of the RTG 2530.
