On 3 November 2025, Ella Logemann successfully defended her doctoral thesis on ‘The Role of Plant-Soil Interactions for Carbon Cycling in Baltic and North Sea Coastal Wetlands‘. Many friends, family members, and colleagues from the RTG2530 came together at the Institute of Plant Science and Microbiology (IPM) at the University of Hamburg to celebrate the radiant new graduate.”

Immediately after the defence, the creatively designed doctoral hat with numerous personal dedications is presented. A little coffee machine on the hat is a loving nod to how Ella always made sure her research group was never short of coffee. Photo:UHH/RTG2530/Grebe
During the celebration, Ella receives many gifts, including a special necklace from her family. The delicate wooden elements feature motifs she designed herself for her presentation – among them the sun, CO₂ and oxygen molecules, microbes, and plant structures above and below the ground. Elisa Schaum is the new spokesperson of the RTG2530
Since October 1, 2025, Prof. Dr. Elisa Schaum, the former deputy spokesperson, has become the new spokesperson for RTG2530. Prof. Dr. Kai Jensen, the former spokesperson, will continue as her deputy until Junior Prof. Dr. Philipp Porada takes over this role in April 2026.
