On April 10, 2026, Clarisse Mittmann-Gösele successfully defended her doctoral thesis on “Plant-soil interactions and redox state shape carbon transformations and methane cycling in coastal marshes.” She happily wore her lovingly designed doctoral hat, encircled by a wide, transparent plastic ring – a nod to the measuring hood she had used during her research into greenhouse gas measurement. To celebrate, friends, family members and colleagues gathered at the Institute for Animal Cell and Systems Biology (IZS) to raise a glass with her and celebrate over a buffet.
