On Monday, 11 November 2024, a festive atmosphere filled the Institute of Plant Science and Microbiology (IPM) at the University of Hamburg. Monica Wilson had just successfully defended her PhD thesis 'Rhizosphere processes in Wetlands' in the Institute's lecture hall. To celebrate her achievement, colleagues from the RTG 2530 and friends presented her with a lovingly crafted doctoral hat.

What a lovely gift table: The stunning cake is almost too beautiful to cut, and the creatively designed doctoral hat is filled with personal dedications to Monica Wilson.
