Mein Forschungsgebiet umfasst die marine Ökosystemmodellierung mit dem Schwerpunkt Planktondynamik: Lebenszyklus und Lebensvorgeschichte von Phytoplankton, inkl. evolutionäre Prozesse, giftige Algenblüten, die Rolle der marinen Biota im Klimasystem durch biogeochemische und biologisch-physikalische Rückkopplungsprozesse.

Ich entwickle und nutze ein breites Spektrum an marinen Ökosystemmodellen, die sowohl in idealisierten Prozessstudien als auch in realistischen Konfigurationen zum Einsatz kommen.
