Research interests
My research focuses on understanding the role of trophic interactions, biodiversity and life history traits in the structure and functioning of marine ecosystems. I study marine communities and food web dynamics under multiple anthropogenic pressures (mainly fisheries and climate change) through the development of various impact models (OSMOSE, Ecopath with Ecosim, EcoTroph models) and the implementation of global change scenarios. My ultimate goal is to project plausible changes in marine biodiversity and ecosystem services by the end of the century. I am currently involved in the SOMBEE project (sombee.org) whose aims is to address the role of eco-evolutionary dynamics and their consequences for the sustainable exploitation of fish resources in the future. In SOMBEE, I am developing a cutting edge evolutionary ecosystem model (Evo-Econ-OSMOSE), to project future changes in biodiversity and fishing production and quantify the synergistic and antagonistic ecological, evolutionary and economic impacts of fishing and climate change on the Northern Humboldt Upwelling System.
