Forschungsinteressen
In meiner Forschung beschäftige ich mich naturschutzbiologischen Themen, genauer mit Aspekten menschlicher Aktivitäten (z.B. Habitatfragmentierung, Klimawandel, Landnutzung) auf Insektendiversität und ihre Verteiltung vor allem in für Norddeutschland typischen Lebensräumen.
Neben der Artendiversität bin ich vor allem an der Verteilung der genetischen Diversität interessiert, die ich mit Hilfe unterschiedlicher Markersysteme (Mikrosatelliten, mtDNA, Allozyme) untersuche. Modellorganismen sind v.a. flugunfähige Laufkäfer.
Zusätzlich beschäftige ich mich mit taxonomischen Fragen bei den Laufkäfern.
Aktuelle Projekte sind, u.a.:
- Einfluss von Urbanisierung und Habitatkontinuität auf das Verhalten von Laufkäfern in Hamburg (gemeinsam mit Wiebke Schütt, jetzt Sussex University, GB)
- Minderung der Barrierewirkung von Agrarflächen mittels halboffener Verbundkorridore (gefördert vom Bundesamt für Naturschutz) (gemeinsam mit Thorsten Assmann und Werner Härdtle, Institut für Ökologie, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg)
- Untersuchungen zur Artenkenntnis von Studienanfängern (gemeinsam mit Thorsten Buck, Institut für Ökologie, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg und Ines Bruchmann, Institute für Geographie und Biologie, Universität Hildesheim, jetzt Niedersächsischer Landesbetrieb für Wasserwirtschaft, Küsten- und Naturschutz)
