Research interest
I am interested in risk assessments for information limited marine ecosystems. Risk assessments are a tool used to rank and prioritize pressures acting on ecosystems to guide management decisions. For this I develop a risk assessment framework combining existing approaches to evaluate different stages of the ecosystem from the single species level up to the system level.
Besides that, I am interested in communication strategies, especially communication of uncertainty associated with the results, as such a strategy promotes better informed decisions.
Current projects
My PhD is part of the EU Mission Atlantic project , a project assessing present and future status of seven Atlantic case studies influenced by anthropogenic drivers such as climate change, fishing, and pollution. My work focuses on work package 7 “Risk assessment and uncertainties”.
