Dr. Claudia Ofelio
My research interests focus mainly on the functional biology of endangered and commercial marine species for its management in aquaculture and conservation programs. During the last years, I´ve been investigating how larval nutrition and biochemistry can influence growth and development of fish larvae and juveniles by combining conventional and innovative techniques. The research I conduct at IHF aims to understand the physiological adaptations of small pelagic fish, such as Peruvian anchovy, under changing environmental conditions, as part of CUSCO (Coastal Upwelling System in a Changing Ocean) project.

"CUSCO: Coastal Upwelling System in a Changing Ocean". This project investigates the linkages between upwelling intensity, community productivity, food web structure, export and trophic transfer efficiency leading up to fish recruitment in the Northern Humboldt Current. This project is a collaboration between several German institutions (e.g. GEOMAR, University of Bremen, University of Hamburg) and the Marine Institute of Peru (IMARPE).
