We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (E13 TV-L, full-time, fixed-term until March 31, 2029) starting April 1, 2026, within the DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 2530 “Biota-mediated Effects on Carbon Cycling in Estuaries.”
Position Overview
In subproject PP1, you will join the Animal Network Ecology group and work on the synthesis of ecological interaction networks in the Elbe Estuary.
The goal is to integrate terrestrial and aquatic subsystems using modern network approaches (multilayer and meta-network frameworks) and to identify key connectors in carbon cycling.
Additional tasks include:
- Integrating data from multiple PhD projects
- Improving data management and reproducibility
- Collaborating on process-based ecosystem models
Requirements
- PhD in Ecology or a related field
- Strong quantitative and methodological skills (modeling, data analysis)
- Experience with network analysis
- At least one high-quality first-author publication
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of aquatic and terrestrial ecology
- Background in ecosystem ecology / biogeochemistry
- Experience working with diverse datasets (including molecular data)
