Herpetological Collection

The Herpetological Collection comprises about 50 000 specimens of 3520 species and subspecies of amphibians and reptiles . Much of the material has been collected between the end of the 19th century and the thirtees of this century, some even in the early 19th century. At the moment 320 type specimens of 139 species are recorded. The type material, the Gymnophiona, Amphisbaenia and the Chelonia are computerized (Herpetological Data Base)
