Contents and Intentions

KLIMZUG-Nord aims to develop climate adaptation strategies for the Metropolitan Region of Hamburg. In an interdisciplinary team, regional climate change projections are modeled, sensitivities for climate change are analyzed and possible adaptation strategies are developed. In the field of ecology and nature conservation, more than 10 PhD students currently analyze possible effects of climate change on ecosystems and biodiversity of the Metropolitan Region of Hamburg.

In the Plant Ecology Working Group, four PhD students do work in KLIMZUG-Nord. They analyze possible effects of climate change on floodplain grasslands, bogs, estuarine marshes and urban ecosystems. Furthermore, strategies for adapting nature conservation to climate change are developed within the working group.
