ESTRADE provides interdisciplinary and structured programs for PhD students in the field of estuary and wetland science. Admission to this doctoral program is possible on the basis of an international MSc or diploma degree. Many of the programs are offered in English and address excellent students in different disciplines dealing with estuarine and wetland ecosystems.
The graduate school ESTRADE is funded from 07/2009 to 12/2012 by LExI (Hamburg Initiative for Excellence in Research with the partner Joachim Herz Stiftung). So far, 14 PhD students are involved in the graduate school ESTRADE. Eight PhD students are funded by LExI and five PhD students have external funding.
Unfortunately, ESTRADE cannot currently provide financial support of students but candidates who are funded by other external funding are invited to join ESTRADE.
Applicants require the following conditions:
(1) Letter in English demonstrating the motivation of the work in the field of estuary and wetland science and to be an ESTRADE member. Time schedule of the PhD thesis, curriculum vitae and certificates should be attached.
(2) PhD topic is clearly related to estuary and wetland science.
(3) Information on the funding source and founding duration of the PhD work.
(4) Information on thesis committee (see Supervision) consisting of three scientists of ESTRADE. Agreement between thesis committee and PhD should be established within the first two months (first page of the template of the panel report).
(5) A supporting letter by the principal advisor is required when uncertainties arise.
(6) Contact details of two referees.
Please send applications to the coordinator Dr. Tobias Gebauer. Decisions will be made by the ESTRADE Office (speakers and coordinator).
